Making Christmas Muffins

Just before we went on our Christmas break we made Yogurt Muffins which we then decorated with Christmas motifs.

Our lovely teaching assistant Jade helped us make and bake our muffins in groups of six. She had a recipe and showed us how to follow it.

First, we read the list of ingredients and tools needed:
- 1 cup of natural yogurt
- 2 cups of self raising flour
- 1 cup of caster sugar
- 1/2 cup of vegetable oil
- 4 whole eggs
- A pinch of salt
- Muffin baking tray
- Wooden spoon
- 1 big plastic bowl

Then, we mixed all the ingredients together:
Empty the contents of the yogurt into the plastic bowl. Use the yogurt cup to measure the sugar, the oil and the flour. Add the 4 whole eggs and a pinch of salt. Mix it all together with the wooden spoon until you get an even batter (without lumps). Get your baking tray out and place a bit of batter in each muffin space. DON'T fill it all up because the batter will grow and then your muffins won't look as good.
They are now ready to be baked!

After that, we put our muffins in the oven for about 10 minutes:
The baking time depends on how big your muffins are. We made small ones because we wanted to have 2 each so 10 minutes was enough. You can use this recipe to make a big cake too, but baking time would probably be around 30 minutes.

Finally, we got to decorate our muffins. Some children decided to eat their muffins. Others gave them as presents to their family or friends. This was great fun!

Try our recipe and let us know what you thought of it!
Suggestion - these muffins are also delicious with fruit. Just cut some apples, pears or whatever you like in little pieces and add to the batter before baking.

Here we are making our muffins:

Happy New Year to you all!
