Ceilidh Dance by Years 3 and 4

Years 3 and 4 have put together a video where they show off their dance skills. They have been practising a ceilidh (Scottish Country Dance) called The Dashing White Sergeant. Here they are:

Here are some basic instructions:
1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 (turn)
1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8, (stop. Get into 2 groups of 3 facing each other)
Out, in, dance with your partner
Out, in, dance with your partner
Dance with your partner, Dance with your partner, Dance with your partner (Back to threes)
1,2 (forward), stamp, stamp, stamp
1,2 (backward), clap, clap, clap
1,2,3,4 (one of the threes goes through the other three)
5,6,7,8 (join another three that walks towards them)
Start again

Top Tip: In each group of 6 children decide who is the group of three that only lifts arms up to let the other group pass. This group should not move on. Instead, they should be joined by a moving three.
Next half term, children from Turkey, Spain, Italy and Poland will be learning this dance. We will be learning one of their dances too. We can't wait to show you the final result!
